Married At First Sight producers feared SIX couples would quit halfway through filming

‘They were scrambling to persuade couples to stay’: Married At First Sight producers feared SIX couples would quit halfway through filming due to ‘drama and turmoil behind the scenes’

Married At First Sight hasn’t had the greatest track record of forming successful partnerships beyond the experiment.

And according to OK! Magazine, producers feared six of the 10 couples would quit halfway through filming the latest season.

An insider told the publication on Thursday: ‘Producers [were] scrambling to both prop up the remaining couples and try to persuade the couples whose relationships are hanging by a thread to stay.’

‘We’ve never known anything like it. Producers [were] seriously worried,’ the source claimed.

They added: ‘There’s a lot of drama and turmoil behind the scenes.’

On Monday’s episode, Poppy Jennings and Luke Eglin were the first couple to leave the social experiment before the second commitment ceremony.

Meanwhile, other couple who appear to be strained are Mishel Karen and Steve Burley, lesbian brides Amanda Micallef and Tash Herz, Hayley Vernon and David Cannon, Natasha Spencer and Mikey Pembroke, and Connie Crayden and Jonethen Musulin.

Meanwhile, Natasha, Poppy, Hayley, and Tash were already spotted with new partners just one week after the show went to air.

The brides’ new relationships have reportedly prompted ‘urgent meetings’ between the cast and producers, with several participants being ‘officially warned’ about leaking spoilers.

MAFS was filmed between September and December last year, with the reunion dinner party taking place in mid-January.

The contestants’ contracts prohibit them from discussing their breakups or new relationships until their last episode has aired.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Nine for comment.

With so many unstable marriages on the show, it’s no surprise the program would choose to bring back a fan favourite mid-season.

Elizabeth Sobinoff is expected to make her debut as part of an ‘intruder couple’ in the coming weeks.
