Married At First Sight shock as Jesse’s ex-girlfriend reveals what it was like to date him

The ex-girlfriend of Married At First sight’s ‘pickiest groom’ Jesse Burford has spoken out about their relationship.

Jesse, 30, polarised viewers on Tuesday’s episode as he rattled off an outrageous list of his dating deal-breakers, which he described as ‘icks’.

Melbourne radio announcer Kat Markey told the Fifi, Fev & Nick show on Wednesday she’d briefly dated Jesse, and she was all too familiar with his nit-picking antics.

‘He was really picky and it didn’t last long. And I knew he was not in it for the long run,’ said Kat, who met Jesse when she worked for Hit 92.9 Perth a few years ago.

‘He’s very confident. He knew what he wanted [in our relationship, and] what he didn’t want,’ she said. 

Kat then took a series of blistering swipes at her ex, accusing him of being fame hungry and trying to use her industry connections to further his career.

Jesse raised eyebrows on Tuesday’s episode of MAFS as he listed his relationship turn-offs and deal-breakers. 

‘He used to hit me up about radio-related stuff. So I don’t think he’s actually there for a girlfriend; I think he’s looking for a bit of a [media] gig,’ she said 

A producer asked him: ‘Do you get “the ick” quite easily?’

‘Uh, yes, I do,’ he replied. ‘It’s funny you ask that, because I actually brought a list.’

Jesse, who is a marriage celebrant, then listed several issues he has with modern women, starting with: ‘Girls who are addicted to their phones.’

Jesse continued to ramble with more turn-offs, like ‘mirror selfies’, girls who leave ‘dirt on the mirror’, and girls who take ‘gym photos’.

He also listed ‘butt, boob, bikini’ which may be referring to other types of photos.

Jesse later tied the knot with Claire Nomarhas, a 31-year-old kindergarten assistant who is a muscle car fanatic and is unapologetically loud.

‘If I get the ‘ick’ I can start to find everything unbelievably annoying,’ he later told producers.
