Married At First Sight SPOILER: Michael confirms he cheated on wife Stacey with Hayley

Married At First Sight’s Michael Goonan has finally responded to rumours that he cheated on his ‘wife’ Stacey Hampton with Hayley Vernon during filming late last year.  

Speaking to Monday’s TV Week, Michael 28, confirmed that he and Hayley shared a kiss inside co-stars Vanessa Romito and Chris Nicholls’ hotel room after a night of drinking and ‘hanging out’. 

‘We were all joking and having a laugh. We were mucking around with the phone and were like,”Oh how funny would it be if this got out?”’ he said of the kiss- which was allegedly captured on camera. 

‘We were fully clothed, just being stupid, being loose, having fun, not really understanding the implications of what rumours can do to your life.’ 

At the time of the kiss, Michael’s wife Stacey was away in Adelaide spending time with her two children, TV Week reports. 

Meanwhile, Hayley has insisted that her encounter with Michael was just a ‘party pash’ and nothing more.

‘There might have been something shared, but it wasn’t a connection, that was more like a bottle of alcohol’, she told Monday’s New Idea magazine.

‘Everyone’s had a 16-year-old party pash, haven’t they?’ she added. 

Vanessa previously spoke to New Idea about the kiss, claiming that it was Michael who instigated the smooch after a night of heavy drinking.

Vanessa also recalled the bawdy conversation that led up to the kiss.

‘Hayley said, “My husband doesn’t want to f**k me.” Michael [then] turned around and said: “I would f**k you both”,’ she told New Idea last week. 

Meanwhile, Hayley’s husband David was allegedly ‘out for blood’ in the wake of the scandal and was determined to find out what had happened.

Producers were reportedly forced to step in as tensions escalated, with one of the brides supposedly yelling for someone to call the police.

Furthermore, a source claimed that security was ‘ramped up’ at the dinner parties after the incident due to fears of violence among the participants.
