Stacey Hampton and Michael Goonan had the honeymoon from hell on Married At First Sight – but viewers didn’t see the half of it.

Tuesday’s episode began with businessman Michael, 28, apologising to his lawyer wife, 26, for ‘getting wasted and being a little bit of a d**k’ at their resort in Fiji the night before.

But Daily Mail Australia can reveal their off-camera argument was even more explosive than previously thought.

An onlooker who was also in the hotel bar during filming in early September claims that Michael was badmouthing Stacey to anybody who would listen.

‘Stacey left him alone because he was drinking so much and she wanted an early night, and then he kept calling her a bimbo once she’d walked off,’ they said.

‘He was also telling everybody how rich he is, how expensive his watch is, and how he doesn’t need the show or Stacey.’

Other patrons at the hotel bar made complaints as Michael became rowdy.

‘Someone that was with him, who I think was a producer, had to step in after a guy called him a muppet or something,’ the eyewitness added.

During Tuesday’s episode of MAFS, Stacey looked very unimpressed as Michael described his night of heavy drinking.

‘Last night, I sort of went out and had a few bottles of wine. I met a few other couples, got a bit wasted and was a little bit of a d**k to Stacey,’ he said.

‘I was arrogant, and a bit of an a**ehole, to be honest with you. It ended with Stacey walking back to our room by herself, thinking she’s probably met the biggest a**ehole in the experiment.

‘Instead of apologising this morning, I f**ked up again and went for a run with one of the guys I met [last night]. I made a mistake and I’ve got to own it.’

But in an unexpected twist, they were able to move past their argument and became the first couple to consummate their marriage later in the episode.
