Married At First Sight: Stacey Hampton is disappointed after Michael Goonan organises a budget date

‘We could go shopping in Dubai!’ Married At First Sight’s Stacey Hampton is left disappointed after ‘husband’ Michael Goonan organises a low-budget final date involving a roadside picnic and Coles sandwiches

Tuesday’s episode of Married At First Sight saw the remaining couples continuing with their final dates before the show’s highly anticipated vow renewals.

As they laid in bed together, Stacey Hampton told ‘husband’ Michael Goonan in no uncertain terms that whatever he had planned for their date would determine what she would say during their final vows.

‘Today is the day to shine. I would like to go shopping… Would you go to Dubai? We could go shopping in Dubai,’ the 26-year-old told him.

But determined to see if Stacey was interested in more than just his bank balance, businessman Michael, 28, arranged a low-budget date under the guise they would be doing something fancy.

‘Let’s see the real Stacey, because at the end of the day, you can make one bad decision in business and you can end up with nothing,’ explained Michael.

‘So, I want to have that partner that I can rely on and that’s basically going to be there for me through thick and thin. That’s what I want to get to the bottom of. That’s what I want to know.’

Expecting to take a drive in a Lamborghini, Michael presented a mortified Stacey with a beat-up old car instead.

They then drove along a busy road, before stopping and enjoying a roadside picnic on fold-out chairs, complete with sandwiches and pies from Coles.

‘This is definitely not the date that I had in my mind… Today’s been really testing me, to see how I’d handle it,’ Stacey admitted.

Sitting by the road, Michael told Stacey that he loved her, prompting her to respond: ‘I love you, too. I don’t love this though.’

‘When you find a Lamborghini key, you expect to find a Lamborghini, you don’t expect to find a Toyota. And now, I’m getting eaten by bugs!’ she continued.

‘I’m wearing Valentino heels on the side of a road in a $20 Bunnings chair with a bag full of food… I know my face doesn’t move much, but do I look like I’m enjoying myself? I’m trying to frown, but it’s not working.’

Married At First Sight continues Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine
