Hayley blamed David’s devout Christian parents Michelle and Kelvin for contributing to the marriage breakdown.

‘I honestly reckon [my past] wasn’t on his mind that much but it was on his parents’ mind and they got into his ear… and that’s been eating him up inside,’ she insisted.

Hayley said she hoped David would look past his parent’s opinions, but unfortunately this didn’t happen.

‘[David is] one of those guys who… sits next to mummy and daddy and really listens to what they say. The fact that he wasn’t matched with this Christian wholesome girl with a clean past, that meant more to him than seeing me for who I am,’ she said.

David’s parent’s certainly didn’t hide their disappointment during their son’s wedding to the fiery bodybuilder.

‘I don’t know if she’s the right style of woman for David,’ David’s father Kelvin told the show’s producers.

‘This is not his usual type for a long-term relationship. I think David’s definitely got his work cut out,’ he added.

Speaking to Nova 100’s Chrissie, Sam & Browny on Monday, Hayley claimed that she and David’s relationship was doomed from the start thanks to her past battles with addiction.

‘I think ultimately [David] was more angry with the experts, production. He had this ideal check list of the woman he wanted to be involved with, I fell short, so he had a chip on his shoulder,’ she claimed.
