Married At First Sight’s Ning Surasiang gives bizarre excuse for OTT behaviour

She faced massive backlash after recoiling from her ‘husband’ Mark Scrivens and saying she wanted to ‘block and delete him’ during their wedding.

And Ning Surasiang has now given a bizarre excuse for her behaviour, claiming she was feeling irritable because it was ’12 degrees at the time’ and she ‘needed to wear a cardigan’.

Discussing her behaviour during the ceremony, the mother-of-three, 33, told Talking Married: ‘Oh my God. I cringed so hard. I’m like “Oh my god, I’m so sorry Mark.”‘

‘It was 12 degrees at the time’: Married At First Sight’s Ning Surasiang gave a bizarre excuse for her outrageous behaviour towards Mark Scrivens… as viewers slam producers for casting her

Ning went on: ‘He knows. He knows I was nervous. You know… It was just a big experience away from my children.

‘Marrying this complete stranger. It was 12 degrees at the time. And you know, in Townsville, 25 degrees, I need to wear a cardigan.’

She added: ‘I don’t actually think before I speak, whereas Mark does. It’s word vomit, a bit of verbal diarrhoea.’

Mark, who appeared on the show with her, defended his ‘wife’ – claiming she was using ‘humour’ to cover up her nerves.

‘For her entire life Ning has just put everyone first. The more I got to know Ning there’s a massive heart there,’ he said.

‘That’s what was missing at the wedding, but in fairness there was a lot of nerves. Ning tried to use a bit of her own humour to cover up a bit of her nervousness.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted a Married At First Sight representative for comment.

Ning found herself under scrutiny for her behaviour towards Mark at the wedding, which kicked off with her telling him: ‘I’m just here for the food and the drinks.’

Commenting on his appearance, she then observed: ‘He has eyes and hair.’

When they met at the altar, Mark said: ‘I was worried you weren’t coming,’ to which she replied: ‘It’s been a long day. I’m pretty sure you didn’t have to get up at five. You didn’t have to do hair and makeup.’

She then complained about being cold, prompting Mark to warm his hands with his breath and rub her shoulders.

She recoiled from him and shrieked: ‘Ugh! Any excuse to touch me!’

Discussing his heartfelt vows, she later said to the camera: ‘He doesn’t even know what love is. I don’t want to waste time with a man with commitment issues.’

Oh dear: During the reception, while sitting directly next to Mark, Ning told her bridesmaids: 'I can't block him and I can't delete him'

Later on at the reception, while sitting directly next to Mark, she told her bridesmaids: ‘I can’t block him and I can’t delete him.’

A baffled Mark asked Ning to repeat herself, causing her to say in a louder voice: ‘I was just saying I can’t block you like on social media. That’s what I do – I block people in my life. If I’m not keen, I block.’

Her behaviour caused shockwaves with viewers, who slammed producers for casting her as Mark’s perfect match.

One fan tweeted: ‘Ning’s callous outer expression is only a snapshot of the torture she inflicts internally on herself. It is not for Mark to balance her, she needs help and the ‘Experts’ have been irresponsible casting her.’

‘Ning has some serious issues, the experts shouldn’t put her on the show when she’s going to many personal issues,’ another added.

A third raged: ‘Ning, your WEDDING day/first date is not really the time to be telling a bloke you’re sad that you can’t “block or delete” him on social media. Read the room.’

‘Is Ning human? No compassion, no remorse, no logic. Does my head in,’ another viewer vented.
