Married At First Sight’s Tracey Jewel left with hefty bills after entering a mental health clinic

Tracey Jewel has revealed that she’s been left with bills in the thousands of dollars after entering a mental health clinic following her suicide attempt.

The Married at First Sight star told Mamamia that she committed herself to the unnamed Perth institution upon arriving home to Australia following a disastrous trip to Germany and paid for the treatment out of her own pocket.

‘I’ve had to pay for everything which is now several thousand dollars,’ the 35-year-old said to the women’s publication.

The troubled star spent nearly three weeks in a mental health clinic last month, after her suicide attempt in Berlin, Germany in late July. 

Tracey was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) following her stint on Married At First Sight.

She tells Mamamia she ‘coped fine’ with the filming and airing of the show itself, but the attacks she suffered online afterwards caused her immense distress. 

‘That took its toll on my mental health, and I couldn’t repair the damage,’ she told the online publication.

In late June, Tracey was left ‘stranded’ in Berlin without money for a flight home after splitting with her boyfriend Patrick Kedemos while they were travelling through Europe.

In a moment of desperation, the mother-of-one tried to kill herself by overdosing on medication.

Tracey took a lengthy hiatus from the spotlight to focus on her mental health however the TV star recently recently returned to the spotlight, filming a new ABC series and recording a radio advert for Perth’s Brain Wellness Spa.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Friday, the brunette said that she is using her public platform to spread awareness around mental health issues.

‘I’m doing mental health initiatives, such as ABC’s new show Let’s Talk Now, and TV and radio ads for the Brain Wellness Spa in Perth,’ she said.

She’s now living back with her parents and has applied to study a post-graduate certificate in marketing to get her once-thriving career back on track.
