The Magpies, according to the report, agreed a £2.2 loan fee, with an option to sign next summer permanently for £12.9m.

Yet Kamara has decided to remain at the Stade Velodrome for now, though his future is still uncertain with less than a year remaining on his contract.

He has made 121 appearances for the club, having made his first-team debut in 2016 at the age of 17.

Kamara has also represented France at youth-team level but is yet to be capped for the senior team.
