The earthquake struck just after 11pm on Saturday.
It’s depth has been measured at 67km.

Papua New Guinea is located just north of Australia.
The Bureau of Meteorology warned Queensland of a severe category four tropical cyclone which could develop off the coast on Saturday.
Tropical Cyclone Nora developed early on Friday morning in the Arafura Sea and the category was increased to a category two system before 11.00am.
