End of an era! MasterChef Australia judge Andy Allen announces he’s closing his ‘beloved’ Three Blue Ducks restaurant


Australian MasterChef judge Andy Allen has announced that he is closing his Three Blue Ducks Bronte restaurant.

Sharing the news to his Instagram account on Saturday, the 33-year-old wrote: ‘The day has finally come to close the doors on our beloved Bronte Ducks.

‘This little place has meant so much to us. It has always been a place of community, both within and outside the walls.

‘Thank you to everyone involved, past and present. Thanks for the laughs, thanks for the tears, we have all learnt so much about each other and ourselves.’

Alongside a series of photos alongside his fellow chefs, Andy added: ‘We are so grateful to this community for supporting us over the years.’

‘We built this place with our hands, we cooked in this place with our hands, and it’s now it’s time to hand it over.’

And while it may be sad for Bronte locals who have been visiting the restaurant for over a decade, venues in Rosebery, Byron Bay and Brisbane remain open.  

The business is co-owned by Mark LaBrooy, Darren Robertson, Chris Sorrell, Sam Reid-Boquist and Jeff Bennett. 

It comes just weeks after Channel 10 announced that MasterChef will be making a triumphant return – with a very tasty twist.

MasterChef Australia: Foodies vs Favourites will see 12 new contestants face off against a bevvy of fan favourites including Julie Goodwin, Alvin Quah, Sarah Todd and Michael Weldon.

Andy will return as judge alongside Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo.

‘We are back for another action-packed season of thrills, chills and kitchen spills… we couldn’t be more pumped!’ Melissa said in a statement.

‘Add to that a handful of new MasterChef foodies going head-to-head with beloved characters from the MasterChef universe over the years… and then of course there’s Julie Goodwin.’
