MasterChef’s George Calombaris looks barely recognisable in throwback snap

MasterChef’s George Calombaris, 40, looks barely recognisable in a throwback snap from when he was just 24 years old representing Australia in an international cooking championship

He’s arguably one of the most well-known celebrity chefs in Australia.

But on Friday, George Calombaris looked barely recognisable in a throwback snap of his younger self in 2003.

A young George, aged 24, is seen dressed in his chef whites and with a mop of dark hair as he poses with his hands on his hips, looking fresh faced and full of youth.

Masterchef of disguise! George Calombaris looked barely recognisable in a throwback photo from when he was 24-years-old (pictured) and representing Australia in the Bocuse d’Or chef championship

George, who at the time was competing in the prestigious Bocuse d’Or chef competition, is seen sporting a full head of luscious locks – which is a stark contrast to his distinguished look he has become known for in recent years.

‘One of my professional proudest moments. To earn the opportunity to represent my beautiful country of Australia in 2003. Thank you,’ George captioned the post, which was shared to Instagram.

The prestigious Bocuse d’Or competition is a biennial world chef championship held in France – which sees chefs from 24 countries around the globe compete for the ultimate title.

His post comes after he thrilled fans with another flashback photo last week.

George took to Instagram to share a snap of himself with a bowl cut as a young child.

He joked in the caption: ‘Oh geez. I really need to find out who my hairdresser was back then,’ adding a crying with laughter emoji.
