Mat Rogers reveals he lost 13kgs on Survivor

NRL legend Mat Rogers was the firm fan favourite to win this season of Australian Survivor.

The 42-year-old’s winning streak came to an end when he was blindsided by AFL star Brian Lake and series ‘villain’ Benji Wilson on Monday’s episode.

However, Mat didn’t leave the jungle without some big achievements under his belt – not the least of which was losing a mammoth 13kg while on the show.

‘It was hard emotionally’: Mat Rogers (pictured) revealed he lost a mammoth 13kgs while competing on Survivor on Tuesday … and spoke of the toll the competition took on his mind

But it came at a price.

Speaking on Hit 105’s Stav, Abby & Matt show on Tuesday, the former footy star said: ‘It wasn’t as hard physically as it was emotionally. You’re just tired and hungry.

‘But I felt good. I did lose a lot of weight. I lost about 13 kilos.’

Mat said that the emotion of missing home was hard to deal with.

‘Family, and being away from them. That plays on your mind a lot,’ Mat confessed.

Mat, who was dubbed ‘The Godfather’ thanks to his high position in the tribe, was dumbfounded when his name was read out.

To make matters worse, the father-of-four left with a hidden immunity idol in his pocket.

‘I left the game with an idol,’ admitted the rugby icon, who was gunning to get sports rival Brian eliminated.

‘Yeah, they got me tonight,’ he continued. ‘I guess I probably got a little bit overconfident maybe.’
