Matt Damon and Casey Affleck were nearly unrecognizable Saturday on the Boston set of their movie The Instigators.

The Hollywood heartthrobs star as a pair of bank robbers on the lam in the upcoming heist thriller, which counts Casey’s elder brother Ben as a producer.

Ben and Matt shot to fame together in 1997 with the release of Good Will Hunting, which the duo both starred in and co-wrote.

Casey, 47, meanwhile has co-written The Instigators, in which the bank robbers wind up having to bring one of their therapists into hiding with them.

Evidently the ruse involves disguises, as Casey and Matt were spotted on Saturday’s shoot day wearing firefighter uniforms.

The Instigators is being directed by Doug Liman, whose filmography includes such memorable titles as Swingers, The Bourne Identity and Mr. And Mrs. Smith. 

Casey hit the headlines last year when he was absent from his brother’s wedding to Jennifer Lopez on a plantation-style spread in Georgia.

While Casey has not publicly commented on the matter, a People source attributed the no-show to his ‘family, parental obligations at home.’ 

In 2018 after the Me Too movement took off, Casey commented on the 2010 allegations of sexual harassment against him that had reentered the public eye. 

Producer Amanda White and cinematographer Madalena Gorka, who worked with Casey on the 2010 film I’m Still Here, had accused him of sexual harassment. Both filed suit, and the cases were settled in 2010.

Casey told the Associated Press in 2018 that ‘it was an unprofessional environment and, you know, the buck had to stop with me being one of the producers and I have to accept responsibility for that and that was a mistake.’ 

He stated that ‘I contributed to that unprofessional environment and I tolerated that kind of behavior from other people and I wish that I hadn’t. And I regret a lot of that.’ 

Casey added: ‘I really did not know what I was responsible for as the boss. I don’t even know if I thought of myself as the boss. But I behaved in a way and allowed others to behave in a way that was really unprofessional. And I’m sorry.’

At the moment Casey is involved with the 25-year-old actress Caylee Cowan, whom he has been dating for more than a year.

Their romance went public in November 2021, confirming a raft of rumors that he had split from model Floriana Lima, whom he had been with since 2016.

Prior to his relationship with Floriana, Casey was married to Summer Phoenix, whose siblings include Joaquin and and the late River Phoenix. 

The duo, who share sons Indiana, 18, and Atticus, 15, were married in 2004 and then separated in late 2015 before finalizing the divorce in 2017.
