Actor Matt Damon got some fresh ink to honor his late father Kent, from celebrity tattoo artist Daniel Winter, a.k.a. Winterstone.
The 52-year-old actor’s father Kent passed away in December 2017 at 75 years of age, with Damon honoring him with a tattoo that reads ‘NOMAD’ – the name of his father’s boat which is also Damon spelled backwards.
Winter revealed the ink in a new video on Instagram, while adding that Damon returned the favor and gave Winter a tattoo as well, his first time doing so.
Damon – who has been promoting his new film AIR with childhood friend Ben Affleck – had previously teamed up with Winter four years ago.
He had Winter – who had tattooed stars such as Lady Gaga, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas – tattoo the new ink on his right shoulder, just above the names of his four daughters that Winter tattooed for him in 2019 – Alexia, 24, Isabella, 16, Gia, 14 and Stella, 12.

‘Got to tattoo an idol of mine! Such a cool job to have great experiences like these,’ Winter began, with the hashtag #MattDamon.
‘And Mr. Damon tattooed me! His first time tattooing! A small universe… aka a dot!’ he added.
Winter continued, ‘The tattoo has great meaning! For his late father. We tattooed NOMAD which was his fathers boat and also Says DAMON backwards!’
‘Pretty rad tattoo with so much Meaning!’ Winter concluded.
The post featured a brief video set to the Avicii song The Nights, which showed Winter working on the tattoo and the finished product.
The video also features a still of Damon sharing a laugh with Winter and another video of Damon handling the tattoo gun before they give each other a high-five.
Winter also shared another snap on his Instagram story, showing Damon giving Winter the tattoo, adding, ‘Oh forgot to mention. Mr. Damon gave me his first tattoo. A small universe a.k.a. a dot!’
The actor’s right shoulder also features another tattoo that reads Lucy, which he got seven years ago to honor his wife Luciana Barroso.

‘On a whim, my wife said, “We’re going to get tattoos today,” so I got a tattoo of her name,’ Damon explained.
‘And it always felt alone on my arm, and I’ve always wanted to put the kids on there. So now, I got the kids on there, and now I’ve got to figure out a way to pull it all together,’ he added.
The video from Monday shows that Damon has added more ink around the names including the eye of a compass and other embellishments.
Damon will next be seen in the highly-anticipated Air, starring alongside Ben Affleck who also directs.
The actor portrays Sonny Vaccaro, a salesman for Nike who landed NBA rookie Michael Jordan to an endorsement deal that would change the face of sports.
Affleck plays Nike co-founder/CEO Phil Knight with a cast that also includes Jason Bateman, Chris Messina, Chris Tucker, Marlon Wayans and Viola Davis and Julius Tennon playing Michael Jordan’s parents.
Damon will also play Leslie Grove Jr. in director Christopher Nolan’s new film Oppenheimer, which hits theaters July 21.
Leslie Grove Jr. was the head project leader of The Manhattan Project, which developed the world’s first nuclear bombs.
Cillian Murphy plays the title character, nuclear physicist Robert Oppenheimer, who designed the nuclear bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
