‘It does touch a nerve!’: Matthew Macfadyen admits it was ‘weird’ watching his wife Keeley Hawes’ racy sex scenes with Richard Madden in Bodyguard
Matthew Macfadyen has revealed that it ‘hit a nerve’ when he watched his wife Keeley Hawes perform sex scenes with Richard Madden in Bodyguard.
The pair met on the set of Spooks in 2002 and then married two years later in 2004.
The longevity of their marriage comes as divorce rates are higher within actors, and the Succession star, 47, admitted to the The Times that their relationship hasn’t always been easy.

Matthew said of watching Keeley, 45, perform steamy scenes with Richard, 35, in the BBC drama: ‘Your wife in other men’s arms. It’s just weird. It does [touch a nerve] a little bit.’
He also added: ‘You can get quite close to the actors you’re working with and all that stuff.’
Because they have the same profession, though, Matthew admitted that it helps he has experience of filming sex scenes on his side and that he finds them ‘the least sexy thing you can possibly imagine.’

The couple are planning on a new project in the new year which cannot be discussed, but he said he does not find it weird working with Keeley as they met on set back in the day.
He said: ‘Well, we met on set. Everyone will know when we’re having a row. That’s always the way.’
As well as Spooks, the pair have also worked together on the 2007 film Death At A Funeral and later Keeley’s show Ashes To Ashes.
The pair met when Keeley had just got married to Spencer McCallum, and shares her eldest child Myles, 21, with him.
At the time, the pair received media attention for their relationship and Matthew has put their resilience as a couple down to being able to withstand that.
The pair share two children together, Maggie, 16, and 15-year-old Ralph.
