Max Evan’s ex-wife blames herself for marriage breakdown

They confirmed their split in January 2017 after two years of marriage.

And now Max Evans’ ex-wife Katy Johnson, 29, has confessed that she was to blame for the breakdown of their relationship and revealed she begged to for him to take her back after she realised the error of her ways.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, the American beauty discussed how she regretted walking out on the Scottish rugby player after jetting back to Los Angeles and getting caught up with the party scene.

The actress revealed she ‘pleaded’ with the hunky sports star during their final meeting in Iceland but it was too late for Max and the pair parted ways after he admitted he couldn’t trust her.  

She told the publication: ‘I had hurt him so much. He said he didn’t trust me not to hurt him again. At that point I put all my pride aside and I was begging him.  I do think about what could have been. I wish things were different.’

The former couple met through mutual friends in Los Angeles in 2010 and married in Minnesota in 2015 following a romantic proposal in Paris.

Despite being head-over-heels in love, Katy admitted issues began while they lived in France when Max played for Castres and she decided she wanted to focus on her career, leaving him ‘shocked’ when she ‘upped and left’.

After moving back to Californian, she confessed to ‘acting like a single girl’ as she attended after-parties until 5am and communication between the two of them slowly scuppered.

Vehemently denying any infidelity, she revealed that she suffered ‘a weird early mid-life crisis’ which led her to push him away and end their marriage.

Although calling time on their relationship, she believed that they would always end up back together but then their meeting Iceland sealed the fate of the marriage.    

Now looking forward with their lives separately, Katy wishes nothing but the best for Max, especially on his new venture on ITV’s Dancing on Ice and with his new romance with Lauren Jamieson – who he has been dating for two months.

She shared: ‘…It sucks, but I’m happy Max is happy. He’s doing so well on the show. People are going to see how adorable he is.’

Adding: ‘I’ve spoken to Max about Lauren. He really is happy. She must be pretty special if he’s decided to be her boyfriend and commit. He’s great to Lauren and that makes me feel worse about how I treated him. He’s such a good guy and I lost him.’

Max and Lauren shared a series of sweet New Year’s Eve snaps, with Max declaring his affection for her in a reflective message.

He wrote: ‘My main goal every day is be happy. No matter what trials I face, no matter how old I get. Happiness is the key to all things great! You make me overwhelmingly happy. Have an incredible year everyone.’

The pair have known each other for a while and enjoyed a sun-drenched trip to Ibiza with a group of friends – including Lauren’s brother Michael – last August. 

Sources claimed the pair got on famously during the holiday and rekindled their romance after bumping into each other several months later.

‘They had a great time on Michael’s birthday trip to Ibiza last summer and reconnected at a charity event late last year,’ a source told The Sun. ‘Max is really, really happy with Lauren.’
