Maya Jama and Stormzy ‘shared a kiss at MTV EMAs’

Maya Jama and Stormzy reportedly rekindled their romance at the MTV European Music Awards in Dusseldorf, Germany days before they were spotted putting on a cosy display at the GQ ceremony in London last week.

While it is claimed they had been growing close once again for weeks, new Love Island host Maya, 28, and rapper Stormzy, 29, are said to have shared a kiss in Germany in the top tier VIP area at the MTV bash where there were no cameras allowed.

It is then thought the couple returned to the UK together after missing the separate flights they had booked before Maya changed her hotel for the GQ Awards so she could be closer to the Vossi Bop hitmaker. 

A source told The Sun of the MTV EMAs: ‘Maya and Stormzy hooked up at one of the exclusive areas at the bash.

‘There were three levels of VIP area and they were in the top tier one. They were seen kissing and seemed totally into each other.

‘There was a strict no-camera policy which is why they seemed happy to be so open with their relationship.’

A second insider said the pair travelled back to the UK from Germany together, adding that Maya changed her hotel in the UK capital to be near Stormzy and that the stars ‘seemed very much in love when the spotlight was off them’.

Maya has reportedly started dating her ex-boyfriend Stormzy again, three years after their shock split.

However, after she and Stormzy both attended the GQ Awards last week, a representative for Maya told MailOnline that the star is very much single and she ‘remains great friends’ with her ex, who she has been spotted with a number of times in recent weeks.

The former couple both attended the GQ Men of the Year Awards 2022 in London on Wednesday and reportedly left within just minutes of each other. 

Stormzy was heard telling friends at the event that they were back together and spent ‘ages’ deep in conversation with Maya at the afterparty, according to The Sun. 

A source told the publication: ‘Stormzy and Maya are together again. They’re taking it slow but are very much back in each other’s lives after a long time when they didn’t speak or see each other.’

The couple split up in 2019 and have remained friends, with Stormzy recently describing their split as ‘the biggest loss a man can have’.

He has always denied any infidelity in the relationship but admitted he had to learn some hard lessons about his behaviour, describing it as ‘disrespectful’.

Speaking to Louis Theroux on his new interview series, the rapper, 29, admitted to making mistakes during their four-year relationship but revealed he has since grown.

He explained: ‘My break-up, that was probably the biggest catalyst for growth as a man. It was like, OK, you made a mistake and you lose someone you loved, someone you cared for, someone who is special to you.

‘That’s probably the biggest loss a man can have, isn’t it? Away from someone passing away, that’s the biggest loss you can have.’ 

It’s not the first time that Stormzy has spoken of his relationship with Maya, having declared that he still loves her ‘wholeheartedly’ and wants to marry and have children with his ex-girlfriend in the future.

In 2020, he admitted he has ‘never loved anyone how I’ve loved her’ in a new YouTube interview with Charlamagne tha God. 

And recently taking to the front cover of British GQ as their fifth Man Of The Year, Stormzy again spoke on his the impact that his and Maya’s break-up had on him.

He said has done a lot of growing up over the last few years, telling the publication: ‘I think my break up with Maya was still really heavy on my heart. I’d never experienced a break-up and the feelings that come with a break-up. 

‘And I never wanted to ever be in a position again where I felt what I was feeling. Because it showed me that I was a boy. And I do not want to go any further as a boy. I’ve seen how that manifests in other people. And I don’t want to be like that.’

Continuing on the changes he made, Stormzy admitted that he has now taken accountability for ‘disrespecting’ his former partner.

It’s unclear whether the former couple had organised to meet, however after sharing an embrace, they went on to spend the rest of the evening together before going their separate ways.

Onlookers told how the pair later stood next to each other in the VIP area, enjoying each other’s company as they watched the US superstar.
