Maz Compton found out she was being fired by 2DAY by TEXT

Maz Compton has revealed the way she found out she was being sacked by 2DAY FM.

The bubbly brunette and former breakfast show host, told the Game Changers: Radio podcast that she first found out she was being dumped by a text.

She said she had been on an airplane when radio co-star Dan Debuf texted her a link to a news article, that said Rove McManus would be taking over their breakfast show.

‘So I got off the plane and I turned on my phone and Dan had sent me a text and I think the text said: “LOL,” and it was a link to a newspaper article about how Rove McManus was taking over the Sydney breakfast show,’ Maz said.

‘I thought, that’s funny, because that’s my job.’

Maz said she then got a call from bosses at 2DAY FM, to say she was booted from the breakfast show and would not be hosting the show the following year.

She said it was tough to host the show for the rest of the year, after finding out she and Dan had been dumped.

She compared it to a failed relationship, saying: ‘If you can imagine, I’m in a relationship and I’m 110 per cent committed to the relationship and the other person goes: “Hey I’m so sorry, but I’m going to see someone else in six weeks, so can we keep sleeping together?”

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia about her shock demotion, Maz said: ‘Of course I was disappointed but it wasn’t my decision.’

‘It had nothing to do with how awesome our radio show is and was about the direction the company is going in and I can’t take that personally.’

Announcing her retirement from radio last year, Maz is now the co-owner of F45 Avalon with husband Glen Naveau, 37, and has a Facebook show called Alt Breakfast.

It didn’t take long before Rove & Sam suffered a massive decline in ratings, prompting 2DayFM to cancel their show in 2017.

In January, Maz took a swipe at former Bachelorette star Sam on the It’s All Connected podcast.

‘Is the growing trend giving reality TV stars radio jobs? Because I’ve noticed that trend,’ Maz said.
