McDonald’s customer claims she ate maggot-infested burger

A Melbourne woman claims to have unknowingly ingested insect larvae after chowing down on what was supposed to be an indulgent mid-week cheat meal.

Candice Jones was ‘treating herself’ to a McDonald’s Angus Burger Wednesday night when she made the horrifying discovery – part of the way through her beefy feast.

After savouring every bite of her ‘scrumptious’ meal from the Heidelberg restaurant, the young woman put the chunky item down for a brief intermission.

But as she prepared to tuck into the second half of her ‘gorgeous’ meal, her burger-indulging bliss was immediately crushed.

‘I put my burger down for a breather, as this was a massive burger,’ she wrote in a lengthy Facebook complaint.

‘I then go to pick up my burger to take another scrumptious bite to be greeted by MAGGOT EGGS,’ she continued.

‘MAGGOTS EGGS inside my burger patty, which I have just ingested half of!.’

Clearly off-put by her gruesome encounter, Ms Jones compiled a ‘EXPECTATION VS REALITY’ graphic, showcasing the burger’s promotional photo alongside her maggot-ridden catastrophe.

She explained how her craving for the fast food delicacy had initially been satisfied: ‘Last night I went to McDonald’s Heidelberg in Melbourne – decided to treat myself to the gorgeous new Angus burger pictured on the left.’

‘I got home and started to chow down my burger, sauce overflowed, it was great.’

But before long, her worst nightmare was brought to life when she found a cluster of maggots burrowed deep inside the meat patty’s flesh.

‘If McDonald’s AU sees this post I would love to talk to someone regarding this disgusting, absolutely revolting, traumatising experience,’ she said.

Ms Jones was left disappointed on all fronts, complaining the company also made it too difficult to share her ordeal with its community of customers.

‘Now I wanted to go and post this to the McDonald’s AU Facebook page and get someone from management to contact me regarding this BUT they have strategically made it so you can’t leave reviews or posts with photos.’
