McDonald’s fans have been left bowled over after learning about a very special ‘secret menu’ item offered by the fast food chain: sheet cakes. 

The cakes, which come in two flavors – chocolate and vanilla – are not offered on the chain’s standard menu, however their existence has recently been brought to light in a series of viral TikTok videos posted by customers who have been lucky enough to track them down. 

According to these patrons, the cakes can only be found at certain locations across the US as part of a ‘secret menu’ – and are priced anywhere from $5 to $20 depending on the specific eatery that is selling them. 

The cakes are also given out to employees in honor of big occasions like birthdays, with one staffer sharing a video of himself tasting the cake for the first time.

‘So I work at McDonald’s and it was my birthday yesterday and I got a McDonald’s cake,’ he shared, while showing off his vanilla sheet cake. 

‘I’ve never had a McDonald’s cake before and I know a lot of people haven’t so I’m going to try it today and let you know what I think of it.’ 

As far as his review of the cake goes, he noted that it was ‘pretty spongy’ but looked quite ‘flat’, before continuing: ‘It’s a pretty good cake, I’m not even going to lie. 

‘The frosting is perfect on it. The cake doesn’t taste bad. It’s just like a normal cake. You know how cupcakes are better than cake? It’s like a cupcake in a way. That might be stupid, but that’s a McDonald’s cake.’ 

While the cakes are not listed on the chain’s official menu, they can be found on its website with two different flavor options: Ronald Birthday Cake Chocolate and Ronald Birthday Cake White.

While no price is given for the cakes, the website does list nutritional information, revealing that a serving size of the cake is 300 calories, and it contains wheat, egg, milk and soy. 

TikTok was in a sharing frenzy this week, as followers were shocked, and in utter disbelief that the cake has been around this whole time.

A third follower jokingly wrote: ‘I was not prepared for the screen-printed Ronald McDonald.’

One commentator couldn’t believe this was under wraps all these years: ‘I was today years old when I learned McDonald’s has sheet cakes.’

A McDonald’s spokesperson told, TODAY Food: ‘All McDonald’s owners/operators across the country have the option of ordering the cakes from their local distribution center for employee or customer celebrations. 

‘Occasionally, restaurants decide to let customers purchase the cakes, but they’re not on the official menu, and you won’t find them at all locations.’
