A group of youths have been involved in an early hours mass brawl in a McDonald’s restaurant in Leicester city centre.

The ugly clash, which involved a number of young men and women, took place in the fast food restaurant at 5.20am on Saturday.

One onlooker filmed a passage of the fight and later posted the footage on social media.

People can be heard shouting, ‘Calm down’ during the mass brawl in which many are sent tumbling.

It is not known whether anyone was injured or how the fight started.

A number of people could be seen trading blows, while others were losing their footing on the wet floor.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: ‘Shortly after 5.20am on Saturday, April 6 we were called to Market Street in Leicester.

‘Officers were deployed but by the time they arrived the people had dispersed.

The same branch was in the news last month when a homeless woman said a member of staff had soaked her and her sleeping bag by pouring water on the stretch of pavement where she was sleeping.
