Samsung has taken the wraps off the latest iteration of a smartphone it claims is ‘the world’s most powerful mobile device.’
The firm kicked off its annual summer Unpacked event on Wednesday afternoon at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn with a look at the new versions of its flagship handset, the Galaxy Note 10.
It will come in two sizes for the first time, both featuring an edge-to-edge ‘nearly bezel-less display’: the 6.3-inch Note 10 and the 6.8-inch Note Plus.
The Note 10 release also brings improvements to its accompanying stylus, the S Pen, with a six-axis motion sensor that will allow you to control paired devices with air gestures, much like a magic wand.

Samsung CEO DJ Koh took to the stage on Wednesday to introduce the firm’s new devices and discuss improvements in connectivity and security, as well as Samsung’s vision of ‘experience innovation.’
In addition to advanced features, Koh explained, Samsung is working to facilitate the ‘integration of devices, services, and capabilities across a universe of galaxy of devices.’

According to Head of Product Management Drew Blackard, the Note 10 is ‘a smartphone that can do anything.’
At just 8 millimeters thick, it’s the narrowest Note Samsung has ever made and boasts the biggest screen yet.
It features a 6.3 or 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O Display, shrinking the ‘hole-punch’ seen in the earlier version, with a resolution of 2280 by 1080 pixels for the Note 10 and 3040 by 1440 for the Note 10 Plus.

The display also gives off less blue light, according to Blackard, and has the ‘highest screen to window ratio on a Note.’
Note 10 will again feature an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that sits beneath the glass display.
And, its machine learning-based software is learning to ‘distinguish between real and fake fingerprints’ for even tighter security.
According to Samsung, the Note 10 models are equipped with a ‘pro-grade’ camera system, with the ability to adjust the depth of field in videos and amplify audio to reduce background noise.
It also boosts an improved ‘super steady’ tool to stabilize footage in regular and time-lapse videos.
Fast-charging capability will allow the Note 10 Plus to last all day on just 30 minutes of wired charge, the firm says.

It will also support Wireless PowerShare, meaning the smartphone can be used to charge other devices, including the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds.
To cope with processing-heavy tasks such as mobile gaming, Note 10 packs what’s said to be the world’s slimmest vapor chamber cooling system to prevent it from overheating.
The new S Pen will also add more capabilities to the package, now allowing for some gesture control thanks to its six-axis motion sensor that includes an accelerometer and gyro sensor.
This means you’ll be able to control certain functions by waving the pen in the air, including zooming in and out to take pictures and controlling the volume of YouTube videos without having to touch the screen.
S Pen will last hours on a single charge, the firm says, and recharges by sliding back into the phone.
