Meghan Markle and Princess Mary’s similar fashion sense

At first glance it may seem like Meghan Markle and Crown Princess Mary are an unlikely pair of style sisters.

But the Aussie and American, who both swept foreign princes off their feet, have more in common than you think.

While Meghan rarely touches the kind of prints beloved by the Crown Princess – and Mary would never be caught in ripped jeans – they both have a bold fashion sense.

And both the current and future princess share a similar great sense of style

American actress Meghan Markle and Crown Princess Mary have both swept foreign princes off their feet – and both women also share a great sense of style

Both Meghan, who will wed Prince Harry this spring, and the wife of Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark love evening wear in bold colours.

Whether it’s an eye-catching red and a deep (dare we say royal?) plum, Meghan and Princess Mary love to make a splash at their respective award shows or galas.

Princess Mary has long been fond of plum, sporting the colour on everything from capes, to coats and dresses.

And Meghan channelled the princess perfectly with her Invictus Game ensemble, sporting a maroon Aritzia midi dress with a matching burgundy leather jacket.

When she wasn’t staying warm in a puffer coat on the Suits set in Toronto, Meghan often styled her ensembles with a sleek leather jacket.

And Princess Mary doesn’t shy away from the edgy material, wowing the fashion crowd when she sported a Hugo Boss dress complete with a leather panel.

Both women are no stranger to chilly weather, and Meghan and Princess Mary are often found wrapped up in long stylish coats.

They’re mutual fondness of netural colours applies to their outerwear, often opting to fight the chill in sophisticated jackets done in caramel or grey.

For Meghan’s big engagement photocall, the future princess chose to wear a white belted coat by Canadian brand Line the Label.

It’s a piece similarly loved by Princess Mary, who has stepped out for a number of royal functions in chic white coat dresses.

In the rare moment that Meghan does sport a print it will almost always be a floral – which have long been beloved by the Crown Princess of Denmark.

And both women have been known to sport a wide-leg trouser to give both their everyday and evening wear a bit of a fashion-forward edge.

They may not share a similar taste in heels (Mary loves them bold, Meghan prefers nude), but its clear this current and future princess could walk in each other’s shoes.

Meghan is a huge fan of netural, often sporting coats and dresses in tan and caramel colours

Princess Mary likewise can often be stepping out in creams and greys when she can tear herself away from a good print

Both women are also very fond of neutrals, sporting dresses and coats in the likes of creams, whites, greys, and caramel
