Rumours that Meghan Markle left Kate Middleton in tears following a bridesmaid fitting for Princess Charlotte have been slammed as ‘ridiculous and false’ by those close to her, an explosive new biography claims.

Just months after the May 2018 royal wedding, stories circulated that Meghan had reduced Kate to tears with her ‘strict demands’, with the Duchess of Cambridge also said to be ‘feeling quite emotional’, having just given birth to Prince Louis.

But Finding Freedom, the hotly-anticipated book lifting the lid on the Sussexes’ exit from The Firm, suggests that while Meghan and Kate were ‘a little stressed’, there were no tears at the fitting, according to an excerpt published in The Sunday Times.

A source, who was present at the fitting, said:  ‘Some of the children weren’t cooperating, and there was a lot going on.

‘Everyone tried to help where they could, but it’s never easy with kids at fittings. There were no tears from anyone.’

The newspaper also reported that several aides confirmed there was no fitting that left the Duchess of Cambridge in tears.

Finding Freedom, which is published next month, is said to provide an intimately detailed and personalised version of the events leading up to the Sussexes’ dramatic departure from royal life, with co-authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand insisting ‘all information in this book has at least two sources’.

Harry and Meghan have denied giving interviews, while palace sources fear the rift between the Sussexes and the Cambridges could worsen.

The biography is written by journalists Scobie and Durand, who are fans of the couple and have set out to ‘correct the record’ and shift the spotlight on to their charitable ventures.

A spokesman said that the couple ‘were not interviewed and did not contribute to Finding Freedom’, adding: ‘The book is based on the authors’ own experiences as members of the royal press corps and their own independent reporting.’

Among the revelations featured in the book are that the Duchess of Sussex was ‘disappointed’ that Kate never reached out to her and that they had ‘nothing in common other than the fact that they lived at Kensington Palace’, while palace insiders reportedly referred to Meghan as ‘Harry’s showgirl’, who came with a ‘lot of baggage’.
