Meghan Markle dons swallow earrings by Kate Middleton’s go-to jeweller Catherine Zoraida

Meghan Markle donned a pair of £120 earrings by Catherine Zoraida as she stepped out in London today – a brand often worn by her sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

The Duchess of Sussex, 38, wore the golden swallow shaped studs as she joined Prince Harry, 35, to return to work following their festive getaway in Canada.

During their visit to Canada House, Harry and Meghan met with the country’s High Commissioner in the UK, Janice Charette and thanked her for hospitality during their Christmas visit.

While it’s the first time Meghan has been spotted in jewellery by Catherine Zoraida, it’s no secret the Duchess of Cambridge has long been a fan.

The stud 10cm 18ct gold earrings, which are coated in eco-silver, feature swallows in flight as they travel together on their migration journey.

They were designed especially for the RSPB and 10 per cent of all sales go directly to the charity.

Catherine Zoraida set up her small, self-titled firm in 2011 and was virtually unknown until the Duchess of Cambridge asked to see some pieces the following year.

It’s believed the Duchess first wore the earrings in 2012, but has been spotted in the earrings on dozens of occasions since, including in four times in 2019.

She wore the ‘fern hoop’ with an Oscar de la Renta suit to visit the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice The Nook in Framingham Earl, Norfolk in November.

The mother-of-three was spotted in them again in the Royal Box at Wimbledon in June, where she paired the earrings with an £1850 Suzannah’s Flippy Wiggle Dress.

Kate also packed a pair for her tour of Pakistan, where the earrings were slightly hidden under a headscarf by Maheen Khan as she arrived for a Interfaith Meeting at Badshahi Mosque in October.

Catherine, who trained at Edinburgh College of Art, said that the Duchess had come across her work and requested some pieces to look at back in 2012.

Kate, then went on to wear a pair of the designer’s stunning ‘double leaf’ earrings and an intricate ‘Spread Your Wings’ bracelet, £420, while meeting the King of Malaysia during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee tour in 2012.

Speaking to Mail Online at the time, Catherine explained: ‘It was just before the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee tour and amazingly she ended up wearing some of these pieces.

‘She wore the earrings and a bracelet to dinner with the King of Malaysia. Suddenly people were trying to guess this new jewellery designer and when they found out it was me they just went crazy.’

The Scottish and Colombian jeweller soon became inundated with orders after Kate continued to wear the designer’s earrings and to countless special occasions.

The Duchess wore the delicate leaf earrings made from 18 carat gold-plated silver over two Christmases.

She also teamed them with Alice Temperley during a trip to the South Pacific in 2012 and at Uluru with Prince William.

All the jewellery is designed and made in Britain.
