Meghan Markle stepped out wearing a sporty chic outfit at the Invictus Games today, finishing her look with a classic hairstyle.
The Duchess of Sussex, 42, styled her tresses into a sophisticated up do – marking the return of her trademark bun.
She was snapped sporting the hairdo while cheering on athletes in Germany alongside her husband Prince Harry.
Mother-of-two Meghan paired her carefree hairstyle with an ath-leisure look, donning fitted black cropped trousers with a sleeveless top and £620 Hermes trainers.
Her choice of hairstyle marked a return to what used to be one of her favoured styles, with Meghan sporting the messy bun on numerous occasions in the past.

Most famously, she wore the look during her 2018 wedding ceremony to Prince Harry, opting for a low bun with loose, face-framing tendrils.
She was also snapped wearing the ‘do during numerous public appearances while she was pregnant with her children Archie, four, and Lilibet, two.
And the style was a surprisingly controversial choice: following her wedding, some social media users slammed the bride’s ‘unruly’ hair, commenting on the ‘stray strands’ that came loose.
But the look was popular with some royal fan who defended Meghan’s ‘gorgeous’ wedding hair.
They jumped to Meghan’s defence, saying her simple hairstyle looked ‘stunning’.
Shortly after, the Duchess of Sussex’s hairdresser Serge Normant, who is based in New York, revealed that it took him just 45 minutes to style her hair for the ceremony– using grips you can pick up in the supermarket for only a few pounds.
Describing how long it took him to style Meghan’s hair, the French-born hair stylist, 52, explained: ‘You know not that long, believe it or not.
‘We had to blow dry it from wet, I would say 45 minutes to an hour. Then they did the make-up and then you fiddle around with it a little bit. But it’s not that long.’
The hairdresser described the look as a ‘messy bun’, a style that Meghan has frequently sported in the past.
Despite the former actress donning the style in Germany earlier today, the mother-of-two had seemed to part ways with the hairstyle during public occasions.
‘It’s a messy bun, we call it. Messy in a controlled way,’ he said. ‘Making sure it doesn’t become a whole mess after a few hours! I don’t overload the hair with products in general and certainly not on this day.’
However, not everyone was impressed with Meghan’s hair at her wedding ceremony, with some describing it as ‘unruly’.
When the Duchess became pregnant with Prince Archie of Sussex, and later gave birth, the sleek hairstyle continued to serve as a popular choice.
A stylist revealed how the Duchess of Sussex opted for sleek up-do during the pregnancy period to protect her locks.
During one of her early appearances after giving birth to Archie at the Lion King premiere in London in 2019, Meghan notably opted for a chic bun for the occasion.

This marked the fourth occasion that Meghan had worn her hair up since giving birth two months prior, wearing a slicked-back bun for Trooping The Colour, her Wimbledon visit, and Archie’s christening.
Speaking to FEMAIL, celebrity hair stylist James Johnson suggested the reasoning behind the choice and said that the up-do is the perfect style for new mothers, as it protects the hair from further damage following pregnancy.
James said: ‘When you’re pregnant your hair cycle stops so you don’t shed any hair, so when you give birth, all the hair you should have lost in the nine months falls out over a quick period.
‘Meghan may have opted for a scraped back bun to prevent her hair from further damage. It’s also a quick hairstyle and perfect for hot weather.
Markle continued to be associated with the trademark bun, so much so, that it was the hairstyle she opted for during her 40th birthday video.
The Duchess appeared in a video shared on her charitable foundation Archewell’s website to mark her 40th birthday.

Filmed at the £11 million Montecito mansion she shares with Prince Harry, Meghan used the film to promote her 40×40 initiative aimed to encourage women back into the workplace post-Covid.
A celebrity hairstylist claimed the low bun hairstyle is chosen for when she wants to portray that she’s ‘taking something seriously.’
Remarking on her relaxed, natural style, hairdresser and brand consultant Tom Smith said she found ‘a clever balance between appearing warm and approachable whilst making sure the viewer knows she has strength of character and is not to be doubted’.
Speaking to FEMAIL, Tom said: ‘This particular hairstyle for Meghan is quickly becoming a trademark when she wants to portray that she’s taking something seriously.
‘Similar to how she wore her hair during her tell all interview with Oprah, her low bun gives an elegant, serious and strong energy.’

Tom suggested that had Meghan worn her hair down and loose, it would have looked more ‘youthful, girlish and playful’.
‘It will have been an intentional choice for a more serious and secure style so that not only is she taken seriously, but she shows that she takes her projects seriously too,’ he added.
‘Meghan retains her approachable nature by leaving out the soft strands around her face,’ Tom said.
‘This stops her look from appearing too severe and helps to modernise the style.
‘The strands around her face have gently been curled with a tong, ever so subtly styled to achieve a “un-styled” natural look which compliments her entire appearance.’

Meghan’s hair was tucked away in the classic hairstyle, with her shiny locks falling down the front of either side of her face.
She opted for minimalist style, donning fitted black cigarette-style trousers and a sleeveless black top.
