Meghan Markle’s birthday cake revealed

Revealed: Meghan Markle’s birthday cake was a layered carrot sponge created at the bakery she handpicked to feature in Vogue

  • Meghan Markle turned 38 on August 4 and she marked it with a very special cake
  • Carrot-based treat was made by a London bakery mentioned in her Vogue issue
  • Luminary Bakery is run as a social enterprise to help women in crisis

Meghan Markle turned 38 just over a week ago and she marked the occasion with a very special birthday cake.

The carrot-based creation was designed and made by a London bakery championed by the Duchess of Sussex during her guest-editor stint at British Vogue.

It is thought the new royal mother spent her birthday on August 4 at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, surrounded by her family and friends, including Prince Harry and their three-month-old son Archie.

And while the occasion was said to be low-key, Meghan did enjoy baked treat from Stoke Newington-based Luminary Bakery, according to Harper’s Bazaar.

Royal correspondent Omid Scobie shared a snap of the remarkable carrot cake on Twitter.

The photograph captures the cream-layered treat, decorated with citrus fruit and featuring spectacular Happy Birthday Meghan icing.

It sits next to the Duchess’ September issue of Vogue, which went on sale at the start of this month.

Scobie captioned his picture: ‘Thanks so much to Alice Williams and the awesome team at @LuminaryBakery in London for letting us join them last weekend as they created Duchess Meghan’s beautiful carrot birthday cake.
