Meghan Markle’s matchmaker enjoys party in black dress

She is said to be the secret matchmaker who set up Prince Harry on a blind date with Meghan Markle in 2016.

This week Violet von Westenholz, a 33-year-old fashion PR executive for Ralph Lauren and daughter of former Olympic skier Baron Piers von Westenholz — a pal of Prince Charles — showed she knows how to have a good time.

She is seen in this snap (far left) larking around in the loos at a party wearing a very short black dress. The image was posted by Amanda Sheppard, 35 (centre), the ex wife of Bryan Ferry, to mark the 33rd birthday of her party organising business partner India Langton (far right). Sheppard captioned the image; ‘Happy Birthday to my absolute bestie and work wife. I hope you have the best day.’

Divorcing Darkest Hour director jets into JFK with his latest girl

They say the darkest hour is before the dawn… How fitting then that director Joe Wright was snapped for the first time with his new girlfriend, Hollywood bombshell Haley Bennett, 30, days after confirming his marriage is over.

The director, 45, whose Winston Churchill biopic Darkest Hour is up for Best Film at the Oscars, wheeled their luggage across the terminal at New York’s JFK airport as The Girl On The Train star Haley helped him steer the trolley towards a waiting car.

Just days ago Wright confirmed the end of his seven-year marriage to iconic sitar player Ravi Shankar’s daughter, Anoushka, 36, right, with whom he has two young sons.

The new lovebirds were recently spotted at the Critics’ Choice Awards in LA after appearing together at a Palm Springs film gala on January 2. And at a pre-Golden Globes party Wright was seen carrying around Bennett’s pet terrier, River, and introducing it to friends.

Wright has a habit of breaking hearts. In 2007 he got engaged to Rosamund Pike — who played Jane Bennet in his adaption of Pride & Prejudice — but called off their wedding just two weeks before the big day.

Meryl’s Streep learning curve

She may have been nominated for 21 Oscars but Meryl Streep still forgets her lines and claims to lack self-confidence.

Streep, 68 — up for another best actress Oscar this coming week as newspaper proprietor Katharine Graham in The Post — admits: ‘Before I begin making any movie, I say to my husband: “Why did I take this job? I don’t know what I’m doing.”

‘I’ve worked with some amazingly talented young actors and actresses over the last few years. They don’t seem to feel too intimidated by me. Or if they do, it’s all over when I forget my lines on the first day of shooting.’

Mum’s the word for Mountbatten’s son

His great-grandfather, Earl Mountbatten, had 500 servants at his disposal as Viceroy of India, but Caspian Hicks, born six days ago, is happy with just one — mum Kata.

‘Knackered’ was the caption Kata — Texan second wife of Ashley Hicks — managed when posting the snap on Instagram, suggesting she’s now fully conversant in colloquial English.

If Andrea Leadsom finds her title Leader of the House a little prosaic, she can always try the more romantic version with which she was addressed this week by Scots Nat Pete Wishart. Channelling Robert Burns, he hailed Leadsom as ‘the Great Chieftain o’ tha Hoos’.
