Meghan Markle’s mother Doria Ragland was spotted out buying pastries near her home in Los Angeles on Tuesday as the rest of her daughter’s family were torn to shreds by one of Prince Charles’s friends.

Doria, who has maintained a dignified silence since long before the royal wedding, was casual for the outing in a pair of patterned trousers and an orange top.

She kept her head down as she strolled back to her vehicle after making her stop at Shabazz Bean Pies in downtown Inglewood.

Meanwhile, across the pond, her ex-husband Thomas and his family – who have done nothing but embarrass Meghan since her engagement to Prince Harry – were torn to shreds.

Nicky Haslam, 78, described them as ‘frightfully common’ and said it was a blessing in disguise that none made it May’s wedding.

‘It would have been awful if that huge lump [Meghan’s father] had been there.

‘The royals probably don’t quite know how to deal with them,’ he told The Daily Mail’s Sebastian Shakespeare.

‘One person who wasn’t common was her mother,’ he added.

Doria has let the media storm surrounding her daughter’s wedding wash over her head.

The closest she has come to the media is when she spent six hours at Oprah’s home in Santa Barbara before the wedding.

Her visit prompted speculation that she was preparing to give the TV queen a tell-all interview about her daughter’s royal romance.

Oprah poured cold water on the rumors afterwards and said the pair spent their time together doing yoga and eating kumquats from a tree in her garden.
