Mel B arrives at court to face off with ex-husband Stephen Belafonte

Mel B was seen arriving at a Los Angeles courthouse to face off with her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte on Monday afternoon, after he filed for a restraining order.

The Spice Girls star, who turned her 43 last week, arrived for the scheduled hearing wearing a bold red sleeveless dress, over which she draped a matching smart blazer, as she prepared for yet another showdown since their acrimonious 2017 split.

Standing tall in a pair of red vertiginous heels, the mother-of-three shielded her eyes with a pair of oversized sunglasses as she strode into the courthouse separately from Stephen, who has stated he believes his ex Mel wants him dead or thrown in jail.

Mel, who was joined by her hairstylist friend Gary Madatyan, is also said to be locked in a court battle with Stephen over who will gain ownership of their Hollywood Hills home that it has been reported Stephen has been using for wild parties.

Their showdown at court comes days after film producer Stephen claimed that Mel is spreading lies in a bid to get him arrested or thrown in jail.

In documents seen by DailyMail.com that were filed to the Superior Court of California County, Los Angeles, on Friday, Belafonte said he was afraid the America’s Got Talent judge would be violent or wanted to pay someone to have him killed.

The couple, who got married in Las Vegas in June 2007, officially finalised their divorce after 10 years of marriage in December following a bitter legal battle.

He also said he was ‘in fear’ that she ‘may make good on her threats and desires to see me dead or thrown in jail on yet another false allegation or set-up’.

‘I am in fear of what (Mel B) will do next and what additional harm she will continue to cause me. (She) will stop at nothing to try and destroy me,’ the court filing reads.

Stephen goes on to say he has been subjected to a relentless campaign, orchestrated by Mel B, to ’emotionally and psychologically abuse me, harass me, destroy me publicly and personally to the point where I have already been hospitalised twice due to my anxiety, stress and high blood pressure.’

He says Mel B’s behaviour has caused his health to deteriorate and his lupus to worsen.

‘(Her) conduct has led to me receiving death threats, threats of physical harm and has resulted in my inability to work in my field given the false allegations and lies (she) continues to perpetrate.’

Stephen adds that he has been advised by ‘various third parties’ that his ex-wife has made ‘threats that she wants me dead or in jail’.

‘Given what has transpired so far in this case, I honestly and truly believe that (she) will make good on her threats and desire to see me dead or either set up and falsely imprisoned’.

Stephen says he became fearful of Mel B’s actions when he bumped into a man he knew through the music industry, Derek Daniel.

Daniel claimed that he had seen Mel B a few weeks earlier and claimed she was ‘essentially soliciting him or someone he knew to kill me or have me thrown in jail’.

‘I truly believe (she) is mentally unstable and would try and pay someone to have me killed and/or pay someone to trump up false allegations against me and have me falsely imprisoned’, the filing continues.

‘(She) clearly has the financial ability to pay someone to try to physically harm me and/or set me up. I am in utter fear for my life and safety’.

Stephen also suggests that Mel B has already made efforts to have third parties ‘falsely allege that I have “raped” them’.
