She tipped the scales at 90kg after eating junk food and drinking two bottles of wine every night.

But now that Mel Greig has started losing weight thanks to a new diet and fitness regimen, the star has become sensitive to those she believes are skinny shaming healthy women.

In a piece for her Yahoo7 Be blog, the 35-year-old hit back at a viral social media post that criticised women in the public eye for sharing their weight loss journeys.

‘I was being shamed for trying to better!’ Mel Greig hit back at a viral social media post that criticised women in the public eye for sharing their weight loss journeys

‘There was an Instagram post that went viral this week about banning women from sharing their weight-loss journeys,’ wrote.

‘And although I support some of what was being pushed towards me, I also felt I was being shamed for trying to better myself.’

The outspoken blonde then opened up about how much better she’s feeling since embarking on her fitness journey, and revealed some dark details about where she was at her heaviest.

Mel said that she reached a size 16 after drinking two bottles of wine every night and eating junk food, and that it left her unable to positively embrace her physique.

‘I tried to embrace my body, to love my curves and to not worry about the scales or what I looked like in the mirror naked,’ she wrote.

‘But there was a reason why I couldn’t embrace my body, and, in all honesty, my body didn’t deserve to be embraced… because it wasn’t being treated with the care and nutrition that it deserved.’

To achieve her goals, the star has overhauled her diet, as well as worked with a personal trainer and attended fitness classes, like Pilates, on the side.

Speaking to the publication, the blonde star blamed her weight gain on her recent job as a morning radio host in New South Wales’ Wollongong.
