Melania school massacre tone deaf kindness day tweet

Melania Trump wants everyone to try the ‘power of kindness,’ offering the encouraging words via Twitter for ‘Random Acts of Kindness Day.’

‘I encourage everyone to test the power of kindness on Random Acts of Kindness Day. It’s an opportunity to teach our children the importance of taking care of one another,’ the first lady tweeted.

People on the social media platform called the tweet ‘Tone deaf’ while others referred to the president and First Lady’s Florida hospital visit photo-op Friday night where they stood smiling with staff and a victim just two days after the horrific school shooting.

At least no thumbs up: The president was criticized for his bright smile and also giving a thumbs up while visiting a victim of the Florida school shooting

Thumbs up! The issue of ‘tone deaf’ for the Trumps just days after the school massacre first came up during Friday night’s hospital photo op

Some people chided the First Lady, calling out previous tweets from her husband where he has spoken in an unkind way.

However, not everyone took issue with the First Lady, as many reacted positively to the tweet with sweet messages like, ‘Thank you for the positive motivation,’ and, ‘You are an amazing person Melania, thank you for encouraging this!’

One of Melania’s priorities  is her anti-bullying campaign, which she launched back in October.

‘We need to step up, come together, and ensure that our children’s future is bright,’ she explained during a speech at the United Nations that same month.

The president shared images from his visit to a Florida hospital where victims are still recovering after a gunman, armed with an AR-15 rifle, slaughtered 14 students and three teachers Wednesday.

A brightly smiling Donald Trump flashed the thumbs up sign during his visit where he spoke with a trauma surgeon and hospital staff, before dodging a question about gun control.

The president told reporters at Broward Health North Hospital that he met with victims: ‘Yes I did, yes I did, I did indeed and it’s very sad that something like this happened,’ before sharing the smiling photo op.

The president refused to answer a reporter who followed up with ‘Mr. President, do gun laws need to be changed?’

Before they left for Florida, the First Lady broke tradition and hopped on Air Force 1 solo, the same day a Playmate accused her husband of cheating with her in 2006

Trump and Melania were seen talking to Dr. Igor Nichiporenko, a trauma surgeon at Broward Health North Hospital while in the hospital hallways before addressing the waiting press pool where his dialogue focused mainly on praising first responders.

On Twitter several people hit out at the president’s thumbs up gesture and wide grin while visiting the hospital that handled the trauma victims that flooded the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

They departed the hospital in the motorcade at 7:15pm, according to a pool log by a New York Times reporter.

The president and Melania also spoke to first responders at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
