King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein and Queen Rania were greeted by the first couple when they exited their black SUV. The foursome shook hands and posed for pictures.

They disappeared inside and moments later walked the colonnade to the Oval Office, followed by their wives.

The last time the royal couple visited the White House – in April 2017 – Melania Trump and Queen Rania visited the Excel Academy, an all-girls charter school in Washington D.C., with Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

While the ladies are having tea, King Abdullah and President Donald Trump will meet in the Oval Office where they are expected to discuss terrorism, the threat from Iran and the crisis in Syria among other issues during their discussions.

Their meeting follows a week-long trip to the Middle East by White House adviser Jared Kushner, who is also the president’s son-in-law, where he said the administration’s long-awaited Middle East peace plan is ‘almost done.’

Kushner’s trip was to lay the groundwork for an expected Israeli-Palestinian peace plan.

While overseas Kushner met with the king as part of his trip to Jordan, Israel, Qatar, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
