Melanie Sykes, 47, spills secrets behind her physique

Her Instagram platform is littered with envy-inducing snaps of her sensational gym-honed physique. 

And Melanie Sykes has now dished all on her exercise, self care and nutrition regime in the latest issue of Health & Wellbeing magazine, where she’s seen smiling to the camera in the cover snap. 

The 47-year-old presenter detailed the importance of ‘investing in her fitness for her old age’ – before cheekily confessing that she was just like everyone else because ‘chocolate is her poison.’

Melanie looked absolutely incredible for her shoot in the fitness spread which saw her cladding her honed figure in an eye-catching red vest and dark leggings. 

With her centre-parted glossy brunette locks effortlessly framing her striking features, the gym fanatic looked much younger than her years.

And clearly keen on showcasing how her youthful glow can be obtained, Melanie sang the praises of keeping in shape, telling the publication: ‘Fitness keeps me mentally happy, and it’s an investment into my old age.    

‘Starting training in my 30s has definitely paid off in my 40s, and I’m hoping to keep myself fit and healthy with the right foods and exercise so that I have energy and am content into my later years,’ Melanie confessed.

And adding how much of an impact exercise has on her life, the brunette continued: ‘It makes me really happy to be healthy. It makes me a better mother, it makes me more patient and I think it just makes you a better person if you’re healthy.’

Staying in the realms of health and fitness, the mother-of-two reflected on the element of self care and revealed that she relies on yoga for making her feel ‘restored.’  

‘I also sometimes use meditation apps, and get 10 minutes of chill out time if I can during the day, which really helps with my wellbeing,’ Melanie continued. 

And the brunette went on to offer truth into the saying that ‘abs are made in the kitchen’ as she revealed: ‘I cut out dairy and alcohol (I hardly ever drink, it’s such a rarity), and I try to limit my sugar intake.’

Melanie did however admit that she gorged over Christmas and ‘ate a lot of chocolate like every normal person.’

And while she confessed that ‘chocolate was her poison’, Melanie revealed the secrets behind the rest of her clean eating: ‘I eat good carbs as opposed to bad carbs, and lots of greens, as colourful vegetables tend to contain more sugar. I

‘I tend to eat what my sons are having, but they’ll have chips or rice with it, whereas I’ll stick to a sweet potato,’ it was continued.    

Mel, who has two children – Roman and Valentino Luca – with actor Daniel Caltagirone, had her love life thrown into the spotlight recently after singer Olly Murs confessed that there ‘might have been something’ between himself and the former day-time host after months of romance speculation.

The Voice coach candidly expressed the truth on his relationship with Mel after months of a rumoured romance. He said: ‘Me and Mel are great friends and that’s it. We were not dating for a year!’

The Troublemaker hitmaker continued: ‘We never dated or went out with each other as girlfriend and boyfriend like people were saying’.

The radio personality and the singer reportedly forged a close bond over fitness and Olly was said to have been a number one fan of Mel’s gym selfies. ‘It was the start of the year and she came to my tour but there was nothing really in it.’

His comment conflicts with Mel’s denial of the romance, with the 47-year-old insisting she is very much single back in November.

Addressing the rumours on her Instagram page, she declared: ‘This is what a single, happy, healthy, 47yrs old independent mother of two teenage sons looks like. DEAL WITH IT!’
