Melbourne City star Scott Jamieson’s clash with Mariners staffer at A-League grand final

Stunning new footage shows furious clash between Melbourne City captain Scott Jamieson and Central Coast staffer ahead of A-League grand final: ‘Don’t touch him! He’s a boy!’

Stunning footage has emerged online showing a heated on-field clash between Melbourne City captain Scott Jamieson and Central Coast Mariners Head of Athletic Development Andy Bernal ahead of the A-League grand final.

A-Leagues All Access cameras tweeted the exchange, which occurred as tension mounted ahead of kick-off at Commbank Stadium in Sydney on June 3.

Jamieson, in his final professional match before retiring, was fired up after noticing Mariners staff, led by Bernal, telling rookie City goalkeeper Matt Sutton to ‘stay in his half’ as both teams warmed up.

The defender, 34, then ran over and told the Mariners coaches in no uncertain terms to leave Sutton alone and ‘don’t touch him’ as he is ‘just a boy’.

Predictably, the Mariners stood their ground, with Bernal and Jamieson almost coming to blows, with the left back unleashing a flurry of obscenities as he looked to protect the rattled youngster.

‘Andy! Andy! Don’t f**king touch him! Don’t touch him, he’s a boy!’ Jamieson yells.

‘He came into our half!’ Bernal replies.

‘Don’t f**king touch him!’ Jamieson shoots back as the Mariners staffer says, ‘go to your f**king half, then!’

‘Yeah, go on now, you f**king k**bhead!’ the City skipper says just before the pair come close to a physical clash with Bernal pointing his finger in his rival’s face.

The incident set the tone for the decider, which the rampant Mariners won 6-1, thanks to a hat-trick from departing striker Jason Cummings.

Cummings, who was born in Scotland and represented the Socceroos at the World Cup last year, opened the scoring midway through the first half after pouncing on a loose ball to finish past City goalkeeper Thomas Glover.

He then took home the match ball after slotting home two second half penalties.

‘Last dance, man, I don’t know what happened,’ Cummings said after the emphatic win over the shell-shocked league winners.

‘What a journey man. I’ve been here a year and a half and the gaffer [Nick Montgomery] changed my life.

‘My career was spiraling out of control but I love the Central Coast man, I’m lost for words.

‘I’ve never experienced anything like it in my life, I’ve never had a manager believe in me like he has.’

Cummings is expected to sign with Mohun Bagan on a lucrative deal which will see him the highest paid player in the Indian Super League.
