Melbourne convicted murder and rapist Sean Price wants reduced jail time

The man who brutally murdered a 16-year-old girl by stabbing her 49 times before raping a woman two days later is applying for an early release from his 41-year life sentence.

Sean Price is serving a life sentence with a minimum non-parole period of 38 years for the horrific murder of Melbourne schoolgirl Masa Vukotic.

Two days after he brutally killed Ms Vukotic, while Price was on bail and subject to a supervision order, he raped a woman in the bookstore she worked in.

His victim has now spoken out about how she ‘went into a meltdown’ after learning that Price is trying to reduce his sentence.

‘I went into a meltdown, I went into overwhelmed emotions I didn’t understand. I thought after the last court case it was done,’ the mother of three told 9News.

Price was originally sentenced to 38-years jail but that was extended after he committed the rape and breached his suspension order.

At the time that he was sentenced Justice Lex Lasry told the court that determined Price was not psychotic and ‘nowhere near enough was done’ to stop him from re-offending.

Justice Lasry insisted that Price, who had a history of rape, should not have been in the community without restrictions.

‘There were many red flags to indicate that the risks of leaving you to your own devices were very significant and likely to involve violence, but nowhere near enough was done,’ he told the Victorian Supreme Court in 2016.

‘This is a tragic case.’

Price is now claiming that an extra three years for breaching his supervision order on top of his original 38-year sentence was excessive because his mental illness wasn’t considered during the trial.

Price originally missed the cut-off date to file an appeal because he didn’t have funding for a legal representative.

He has reportedly engaged a lawyer who will work pro bono as he applies.

His victim says Price is merely looking for attention.

‘Sean’s bored. Sean has nothing to do for the next 70 years. He needs to suffer the consequences of his actions but I also think he craves attention and I would like to deny him that attention.’
