- A one-metre long saltwater crocodile was discovered in a Melbourne front yard
- A couple going for a walk in Heidelberg Heights stumbled upon the critter
- A reptile catcher captured the croc but no one knows where it came from
A couple going for a walk in Melbourne on Christmas night got quite a fright when they stumbled upon a one-metre long saltwater crocodile in a neighbour’s front yard.
Highly sceptical police, expecting to find a large lizard, arrived at the Waiora Road home in Heidelberg Heights at 8.30pm to find the crocodile sitting quietly.
The reptile was successfully captured, but where it came from remains a mystery to police.
The critter will remain with a carer until the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning can collect it, police said.
