Pro-Palestine activists have blocked a main entry to the Melbourne Cup at Flemington Racecourse.
Footage posted to X, formally Twitter, on Tuesday show protestors being surrounded by police on Racecourse Road, in Flemington, west of Melbourne.
One demonstrator can be seen lighting a flare while standing on top of a van with the words ‘free Palestine’ written on it.

Another can be seen being dragged away by police as a crowd gathers.
Police can be seen desperately trying to clear the road to allow traffic to flow.
The group also took to sitting down on the road.
It has been reported that there are about 50 people at the protest.
