Melbourne Cup Fashions on the Field finalists pose shoot

While many would argue the Melbourne Cup is all about the ‘race that stops a nation’, just as many others would say the day is in fact all about the fashion.

Just ask the hundreds of Myer’s Fashions on the Field entrants, who took to the catwalk in their boldest and brightest outfits, in a bid to take out the coveted daily title.

Among the towering fascinators, immaculately co-ordinated get-ups and quirky creations on show, there were some bold and inspired entries that caught the attentions of fashion onlookers.

The Fashions on the Field finalists posed for a beautiful high fashion photo shoot, highlighting the creativity involved in the fashion of the day.

In the professional Fashions on the Field shoot, one woman opted for a clever corset, which was emblazoned with horses.

She topped off her picture-perfect look with an elaborate headpiece, black gloves and a matching skirt.

The detailing on the outfit was visible from all angles. While from the front the corset was studded with pearls, from the back there were chains and metal pieces.

Some opted for block colour, such as one entrant who wore a coral one-shouldered dress (pictured)

Meanwhile, others preferred pattern or monochrome (pictured)
