Driver who thought she’d scored a free car wash has her Holden Commodore stolen – as cops reveal the email motorists must ignore

  • The car was stolen by a man who was to wash her car for free, as per the email
  • Police have released images of a man they wish to speak to about the theft

A female driver has had her car stolen after getting a email claiming she had won a free car wash.

The woman sold her car through Carsales.com and later got an email that claimed to be from the website offering her a free car wash.

A man who posed as car washer went to the woman’s home in Brighton, Melbourne, on August 9.

After he got the keys to the Holden Commodore sedan at 3.30pm he drove off with the car.

The car’s registration is 1MX4CM.

Police have released images of a man they wish to question in relation to the car theft.

The man is as wearing a blue shirt, a baseball cap and a yellow hi-vis top.

He is described as being European with black hair, 177cm tall and a medium build.
