A family were left traumatised after a man threatened to kill a pregnant mum and her unborn baby in a terrifying carjacking attempt.

Shruthi Sheshagiri and Mahesh Sriramaiah were in their vehicle and stopped for petrol at an Ampol service station about 9:30pm in Huntingdale, Melbourne on March 17.

As they sat with their five-year-old son in the backseat, a man immediately began kicking their car.

In a completely unprovoked attack, the man screamed at the family, threatening to kill Ms Sheshagiri and her unborn baby.

He attempted to get inside the car, with Mr Sriramaiah locking the doors.

‘I (had) really bad fear. I was shouting at my husband to start the car,’ Sheshagiri told 9 News.

‘As soon as he saw me that I was pregnant, he started becoming very furious and he started hitting the glass window as well.

Her husband added: ‘He kicked the car and the car shook and my wife started screaming at the top of her voice.

‘My brain froze and I did not react at all.’
