A teen is fighting for life after he was knifed during a fight on a bus, two weeks after another Melbourne teen was stabbed to death at a bus stop.

Two boys were on board a bus in Preston in the city’s north-east around 4.15pm on Friday when they became embroiled in an altercation.

The victim, aged in his late teens, suffered wounds to his upper body and was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

He remains in a critical condition.

The other teen got off the bus and fled the scene on foot.

It’s understood the bus was travelling along Murray Road heading towards Brunswick at the time of the altercation, according to witnesses.

The latest teenage stabbing comes a fortnight after Melbourne schoolboy Pasawm Lyhym (pictured) was stabbed to death at a bus stop in the city’s west

Police cordoned off 100m of Murray Road and spent several hours on Friday night interviewing witnesses and examining the scene for evidence.

Firefighters were also seen hosing off the blood from the footpath and road, the Herald Sun reported.

The alleged attacker remains on the run.

‘There are no updates at this stage, the investigation remains ongoing,’ a spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia on Saturday.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has or CCTV footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

In a separate incident, a man, 37, was also stabbed during a fight at a Sunshine Centrelink branch on Friday afternoon.

The latest incidents come days after 16-year-old Melton South schoolboy Pasawm Lyhym was killed in broad daylight.

The aspiring tradesman was fatally stabbed at Sunshine bus station on May 18.

He was on his way to the cinema to watch the new Fast and Furious movie with his older brother Mawn.

Pasawm’s death sparked an outpouring of tributes from family, friends, his school and Melbourne’s Chin community.

A 17-year-old boy from Hillside handed himself into police on Tuesday night and was later charged with murder.

He appeared in Melbourne Children’s Court where he was remanded in custody. He didn’t apply for bail.

The teen will reappear in court in June.

A 17-year-old from Caroline Springs and an 18-year-old from Burnside were earlier interviewed by police and later released without charge pending further inquiries.

The investigation by homicide detectives into Pasawm’s death continues.
