A woman suffering from a chronic illness has received a note from an anonymous neighbour telling her to clean up the ‘pigsty’ in her backyard.

Anne Simpson, from Melbourne, found the note in her letterbox this week.

‘What a pig stye (sic)’, the note seen by The Daily Telegraph reads.

‘What a disgraceful mess, footpath overgrown with weeds the house, footpath and verandah dirty and disgusting.

‘I am told the house inside is filthy too.

‘Move your pigsty over to Doveton, we don’t want you here.’

Ms Simpson, 59, is fighting constant exhaustion from a recent illness and says she wants her neighbours to try and understand she is doing the best she can for now.

She urged people to check on their neighbours before condemning them.

‘Put down your poison pen and pick up a tool or two and lend a hand,’ she told the publication.

‘Nasty notes and judgments have never solved anyone’s problems, but random acts of kindness can and do change lives and build communities.’
