Melissa McCarthy changes into three separate costumes while working on Bernard And The Genie in NYC

Melissa McCarthy was spotted while working on the New York City set of Bernard And The Genie on Wednesday afternoon.

The 52-year-old performer switched through three separate costumes as she filmed scenes for the upcoming fantasy-comedy feature, in which she will star alongside Pappa Essiedu.

The actress, who recently spoke about encouraging her daughters to embrace their ‘weird quirks,’ was initially attached to the project in December of last year.

McCarthy was first spotted while wearing what appeared to be a loose-fitting and multi-patterned outfit that was accentuated with several articles of jewelry.

She also donned a fringed and eye-catching light brown vest that contrasted well with the tones of her clothing.

Essiedu opted for a much more casual outfit that was comprised of an overcoat, jeans and Nike sneakers, all of which contrasted perfectly with his costar’s costume. 

The Mike & Molly star went on to change into a pair of high-visibility overalls, a matching shirt and work boots.

The actress’ second costume of the day was completed with a jewel-studded hard hat.

She also donned a fake mustache and beard that matched the bright red color of her hair.

McCarthy eventually switched into a brightly colored outfit that included a pink-and-blue overcoat, which was paired with matching socks and shoes, and worn on top of a patterned red dress.

The actress accessorized with two dog-shaped purses as well as several pieces of turquoise jewelry. 

The performer’s look was completed with a pair of wide-framed sunglasses, a patterned head wrap and a short white wig. 

Deadline revealed that McCarthy had been attached to Bernard And The Genie in December of last year.

The media outlet also revealed that the upcoming feature would be directed by Sam Boyd.

Richard Curtis, best known for working on features such as Bridget Jones’s Diary and Notting Hill, wrote the project’s screenplay. 

The screenwriter previously penned the script for the original Bernard And The Genie, which premiered as a television movie in 1991.

The film, which made its debut on BBC1, starred performers such as Alan Cumming and Rowan Atkinson.

The feature is centered on a workaholic who receives assistance from a magical figure while attempting to win his family back during the Christmas season.

It was subsequently revealed that Essiedu had signed on to appear in the feature this past January.

Physical production on the upcoming feature began earlier this month in New York City.

Bernard And The Genie’s prospective release date has not been announced as of yet.
