She is one of Australia’s best known actresses and models.

And Melissa Tkautz delighted fans on Tuesday when she appeared on Channel Seven’s The Morning Show for a rare interview.

The 49-year-old, who played the role of Nikki Spencer on popular Australian TV soap E Street, looked unrecognisable as she discussed her career.

The actress’ face appeared taut and puffy while her cheeks and lips appeared more voluminous.

Melissa looked stylish in navy striped pants, a white T-shirt and a matching coloured vest for her TV appearance.

During the interview, she discussed landing her ‘dream role’ on E Street when she was just 16 years old.

‘You’re only 16, getting the dream role back then. I remember how daunting it was,’ she said.

‘The next minute I’m sitting in the green room with all these actors going, what am I doing here? How has this happened? It took me a couple of weeks to get into it but everyone was so lovely to work with.’

‘They were an amazing cast,’ she added.

Melissa also revealed her desire to play the role of a character different to what she usually plays.

‘We have a very small industry so it is hard to work in our country and there are very limited jobs but I feel as though I do get the same roles,’ she said.

‘I’m not complaining about that, I just saying that I do get pigeonholed.’

Joining the cast E Street at age 16, Melissa’s character was so popular that she released a single – Read My Lips – which was promoted on the show.

In 2017, Melissa made a return to the spotlight starring on reality show The Real Housewives of Sydney.
