Dubrovnik isn’t the only star of the show in Croatia: Mesmerising images show the beauty of the country’s rivers and waterfalls

Thanks to Game of Thrones and its mesmerising medieval beauty, Dubrovnik gets all of the attention in Croatia.
But these amazing photos show how there’s plenty more in the country that’s capable of bewitching visitors – namely its rivers and waterfalls.
They were snapped by Croatian biologist-turned-photographer Goran Šafarek, who has been exploring the waterways of his home country for the past 10 years.
His fascinating images include the wild cascades and canyons of the Krka River, the jaw-dropping source of the Cetina River and the majestic Drava River – one of the last remaining lowland rivers in Europe.
Goran told MailOnline Travel: ‘Maybe no other European country has such diverse, yet so preserved rivers as Croatia. Its rivers are undoubtedly one of its most important features. They include murky and slow lowland rivers that flood vast floodplains through to short and fast mountainous rivers that flush down rapids.’
