Anti-terror police have arrested a 16-year-old girl and a 53-year-old woman on suspicion of funding terrorism.

Officers moved in two homes in west London and arrested two women, aged 53 and 26, and a schoolgirl.

Detectives are now scouring both properties as part of a terror investigation.

A Scotland Yard spokesman: ‘Three people have been arrested today, 4 September, on suspicion of terrorism offences as part of an investigation by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.

‘A 53-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl were arrested at an address in west London. A 26-year-old woman was arrested at a separate address, also in west London. Officers are carrying out searches at both addresses.

‘They were all arrested on suspicion of funding terrorism contrary to section 17 of the Terrorism Act 2000. 

‘All three were detained under PACE and taken to a south London police station where they remain in police custody. Enquiries ongoing.’
