A massive $39million haul of illicit drugs has been discovered floating in large bottles of olive oil as an alleged smuggler is charged.
The 281kg stash of liquid methamphetamine was found in July 2021 inside a truck in the west Sydney suburb of Fairfield.
The AFP-led National Anti-Gangs Squad (NAGS) was the one to make the discovery.
A Granville man was arrested and charged with importing and attempting to possess a commercial quantity of an unlawfully imported border controlled drug, namely methamphetamine.

The 29-year-old man’s home was raided last September, where officers seized phones and a computer.
The AFP believe the man is associated with a transnational organised crime group that import illegal drugs and are connected to Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMCGs).
The man was allegedly linked to the extra-virgin olive oil foreign shipment via Operation Bendigo – an investigation into the illicit drug.
Images released by police showed the large plastic bottles of olive oil in boxes imported from overseas, that had the illicit drugs floating inside.

National Anti-Gangs Squad Superintendent Anthony Conway said anyone who joins up with OMCGs will ‘regret it for life’.
‘The AFP, working together with our state and territory partner agencies, will continue to take deliberate action to best protect Australians from organised crime groups including OMCGs.’ Supt Conway said.
The National Anti-Gangs Squad (NAGS) is made up of members of the AFP, state and territory police and the Australian Tax Office.
The man will face Parramatta Local Court on November 22.
