Mexican beauty pageant is cancelled due to ugly entrants

A male beauty contest in Mexico has been cancelled after the contestants failed to meet necessary ‘physical requirements’.

Only six entrants threw their sombreros into the ring when the Mr Tabasco 2017 competition was announced.

Modelling a gent Oscar Servin Leon had been overseeing the pageant – in the southeastern Mexican state of Tabasco – and expectations were high.

His agency had even caused controversy with its original advert by specifying that contestants must be a minimum height of 5 feet 10 inches, single, childless, have an athletic body and not be a stripper.

But when the half-dozen hopefuls turned up for the photoshoot, the future of the beauty contest was immediately thrown in doubt.

The agency put together a publicity package featuring the six wannabe hunks, showing them in swimsuits, casual clothes and formal attire.

But the contest was soon cancelled as the men were deemed to be nothing like as hot as Tabasco’s most famous sauce.

The modelling agency confirmed the closing of the contest in a statement.

People online were quick to mock the substandard entrants, with one posting a meme showing them pictured with some beefcakes from Jalisco labelled 'Expectations' and the less impressive line-up of Tabasco lads labelled 'Reality'

It said: ‘The National Organisation of Mr Model Mexico regrets to inform that the event Mr Model Tabasco 2017 has been cancelled until further notice, due to [contestants] not meeting the physical requirements established for the organisation.’
